Come join your fellow Master Naturalists in invasive species removal (camphor) at City Park!
On 3/20/21 volunteers are to meet at the pedestrian bridge located on the west side of Scout Island. The nearest google map address and driving directions are to "40 Magnolia Drive, City Park, New Orleans” - which is the location of a large playground. Just north of this address are parking spaces and the pedestrian bridge onto Scout Island. Enter off of Marconi Drive as Magnolia Drive is one way.
Our meeting time is 9:00 AM and we end at 12:00 PM. We suggest bringing snacks and drinks in canteens - not throwaway water bottles. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring gloves, loppers or hand garden shears if you have them. Other tools will be provided by City Park.
A City Park representative will check everyone’s temperature, brief the group and then hand out tools. Volunteers will spend the morning cutting or digging out camphor tree saplings which will allow native trees to sprout or create more space for new native plantings.
*Temperature checks required prior to the project.
*Masks and social distancing required.
