✿ Celebrate Spring by Planting a Tree! ✿
Welcome the season of growth by joining Portland Urban Forestry at Ed Benedict Park for a community tree-planting event! With your help, a new tree will take root, unfurl its leaves, and grow into a source of shade, cleaner air, and natural beauty for years to come.
This event is also a perfect opportunity to explore all the ways you can get involved with Urban Forestry—whether it’s through volunteering or participating in programs like the Yard Tree Giveaway and Free Street Tree programs.
Never planted a tree before? No worries! We’ll start with a step-by-step demonstration to show you everything you need to know. We’ll also provide all the tools, gloves, and equipment you’ll need—just come dressed for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes so you’re ready to dig in and plant a tree! Light lunch and snacks will be provided.
Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry's mission is to manage and ensure Portland's urban forest infrastructure for current and future generations. Portland’s urban forest consists of over a quarter million street trees, 1.2 million park trees, and 2.9 million private property trees. Urban Forestry is involved in managing or regulating all of these trees to differing degrees. Urban Forestry staff issue permits for planting, pruning, and removal of all public and some private trees and are on call 24/7 to respond to tree emergencies.
