Tough Trees Bootcamp - Tree Caregivers
Saturday, February 20 2021
Location is in Hazelwood Neighborhood, meeting address will be shared after registration.
Portland’s trees work hard, but our volunteers work even harder! Learn the body mechanics that keep our arborists limber as a pine. Keeping ourselves and our community healthy by providing mulch and pruning to street trees.
If you use stakes or other materials to stabilize a tree at planting, be sure to remove them around a year after planting. Experiencing the stress of wind and other environmental conditions creates reaction wood – building healthy trees with a strong taper. Just as our trees need regular care, we need to remember to take care of ourselves. Join your neighbors outdoors this spring, working on the body mechanics that keep tree caregivers strong and applying these skills to our community’s trees.
Let's get out and:
• Provide mulch to young street trees.
• Give trees <10” DBH a first or second pruning.
• Share our love of trees with neighbors!
