Tree Planting at Whitman Elementary

Depave removed 2500 square feet of asphalt from the Whitman Elementary School playground! Now it is time to plant the trees that will provide shade for students as they play.
We will work with 5th graders to plant trees!
Work will include:
-Watch a demonstration on properly planting a tree
-Prep the trees and pre-dig the holes
-Help 5th graders shovel soil and talk to them about the steps for planting a tree.
Details:
-We will work rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
-Snacks and water will be provided to volunteers. Please bring a reusable water bottle and lunch if you will need it.
-Everyone must wear a mask during the event.
-Urban Forestry will have gloves and all the tools needed.
***Important: Volunteers working this event must have a background check on file or fill out the background check and turn it in 5 days before the event.***
