City of Chico, Parks Division, PALS Volunteers

This day will focus on a special collaboration project between the City of Chico staff and Chico Velo Trailworks. We will be constructing an elevated causeway on a section of Lower trail that is frequently muddy. The elevated causeway will be constructed out of rocks to delinate the edges of the causeway and then the inside of the causeway will be filled with drainage rock and then soil on top. The city will be using heavy equipment to stage the materials and volunteers will be tasked with constructing the causeway. Some heavy lifting may be required but most of the work will be spreading and compacting the materials. Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, sun glasses and bring snacks/ water. Tools will be provided. Please meet at 8:00 AM at the Day Camp parking lot (parking lot H). This is about 1 mile past the monkey face parking lot in Upper Bidwell Park. If the project site does not dry out enough this week, the workday will be cancelled. Everyone who has RSVP'd will be emailed if we end up having to cancel.
