Spring Ephemeral Seed Collection and Sowing

Join us outdoors in Salisbury Mills, NY to learn about collecting seeds from spring ephemeral plants and help collect and sow seeds for Wild Woods Restoration Project. You’ll learn our seed collection protocols and data collection, special considerations for collecting from spring ephemerals, and collection timing and techniques. We’ll walk the woods to collect seeds of several species, and then we’ll sow the seeds we collect.

ACTIVITY: We'll discuss minimum population sizes that we're looking for when we make a collection and what kind of data needs to be recorded on the form. We will walk through the woods to find our wild populations collect from, and collect seeds of several species. We'll provide all the tools and supplies. The seeds will be grown for Wild Woods Restoration Project.

BRING: Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and dress for the weather. Bring garden gloves if you have them, if not, we have gloves to lend.

WEATHER: This event is weather-dependent and will be cancelled or postponed in case of inclement weather. Registrants will be notified by noon the prior day if the event will be cancelled.
