Dickens of a Christmas, December 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, & 18

A great way to get to know the Ohio History Connection, this position supports the large public programs such as Dickens of a Christmas, All Hallows' Eve and Glorious Fourth. Dickens of a Christmas is a 19th century Christmas celebration. Volunteers lead activities in all Ohio Village buildings.
Responsibilities: To engage and encourage visitor participation in a variety of roles while in 1890’s day costume.
Skills Required:
Language Skills: Be able to provide educational information to our guest.
Mathematical Skills: Those working at the Chestnut sales & Cookie sales must have basic addition and subtraction skills.
Technical Skills: Request that volunteers know how to use the fire extinguisher.
Time Commitment: One time event volunteer. Must be able to perform at least 4 hour shift of the event (breaks will be provided). Volunteer shifts will be arranged and assigned during trainings.
Dec. 9, 10, 16, 17
Friday and Saturday shifts 5pm-9pm
Dec. 11 & 18
Sunday shifts 11:30am-5pm
Work Environment: Volunteers will work in various village buildings performing assigned tasks. This is in a period costume. Volunteer may encounter large crowds in these areas during the evening.
Physical Demands: These roles require working in possibly cold weather. Most positions are within village buildings but walking in the elements is required to get to the buildings. Volunteers must be willing to wear reproduction late-19th century costuming and follow costuming guidelines. Costumes provided.
Training: All interested persons are required to attend one training before volunteering.
Saturdays, November 12 & 19 at 9am-11am
Tuesdays, November 15 & 22 at 6pm-8pm
Age requirement:
12-13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during shift and fill out an event application
14-17 event application must be signed by parent or guardian
18+
