Childcare for Refugee Children

We have just started two classes for refugee women to learn English for the first time. However, many of the moms do not yet have a network of reliable childcare providers which prevents from accessing education. Your willingness to help with their children allows them to learn crucial skills which will enable them to find a place in their new American communities.
ROLE:
As a childcare volunteer, your primary role is to support the lead childcare volunteer, keep the children safe, offer comfort (many have never been apart from mom yet), and assist with age-appropriate activities such as holding or singing to infants and helping toddlers and preschoolers learn school-readiness skills like coloring, cutting, counting, singing, dancing, and playing games. You’ll get to teach the kids some of their first English words!
You’ll also be responsible for resolving minor spats and squabbles in a gentle but consistent way, modeling discipline and boundary setting for refugee moms, who are looking to you to learn how Americans parent children.
REQUIREMENTS:
This role requires experience with children, patience, and flexibility. Creativity and resourcefulness are a plus as you’ll need to design activities for the children. You also need the ability to stay calm during chaos, manage multiple age levels, and a heart to work with refugee children from different cultures and upbringings.

COMMITMENT:
