Mulching at East Grove At Shropshire

Tree Week Event!
The 27 Kentucky native trees at the East Grove at Shropshire could use some mulching! Proper care and maintenance is vital to the health and longevity of trees, particularly in an urban environment. Mulching your trees provides protection to the roots, trunk, and helps retain moisture around young roots. These events provide excellent benefits for the trees and are truly loads of fun! Come out on this first Saturday of Tree Week and we'll nurture both trees and community.
This activity will be taking place in the median across from William Wells Brown Elementary School, on Shropshire Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets.
These trees were planted by Trees Lexington in May 2021 and receive our maintenance and care on a regular basis. In the fall, we mulch! We'll provide the tools, simple instructions, and you're guaranteed to learn something interesting about trees and their care while you're there!
Wear closed toe shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.
All Trees Lexington tree care events are subject to rescheduling in cases of inclement weather.
This event earns Tree Steward Credit!
