Pet Waste Outreach Campaign
Saturday, September 23 2017
Saturday, September 23rd, 9:00am-12:00pm
Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, 200 Nevada Ave, Moss Beach (meet at the parking lot)
The Resource Conservation District (RCD) now has funding from San Mateo County to conduct a pet waste education/outreach campaign. As most of you know, bacteria is a major pollutant on the coastside and dog waste can be a big contributor threatening human health and aquatic life. As part of this effort, the RCD is conducting a dog waste clean-up event in the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Area/San Vincente Creek to remove dog waste before it is washed into the ocean during the first big rain of the season (first flush).
RCD will be providing volunteers with buckets, gloves, masks, bags etc. Community efforts such as these in addition to widespread education are key to stopping pollution from pet waste. If you are not able to attend, RCD encourages you to pick up after any pets you have and spread the word about pet waste.
