Volunteer for Bike Parking at Maker Faire 2018
Friday, May 18 2018
Maker Faire is a gigantic exhibition of do-it-yourself crafting, building, and exploring in San Mateo. Those who arrive to the Faire by bike receive free valet bike parking and we (Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC)) are there to provide it with a smile! Cycling is a very popular way to get to the Faire. SVBC has been providing bike parking for over a thousand bikes at Maker Faire every year for the last ten years. So, come out and volunteer at Maker Faire 2018!
By volunteering with SVBC, you will be given FREE entry into the Maker Faire before or after your shift. Volunteer bike parking shifts are just 2 to 3 hours each. No experience is necessary - you'll learn on-site. Volunteer responsibilities include accepting event attendees' bikes, placing them on bike racks, keeping a watchful eye over the bicycles and getting to know your community more. This is one event where we need quite a few volunteers, so come one and all.
Volunteers aged 13 to 18, who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to bring with them SVBCs signed waiver forms. Volunteers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to volunteer. Parents/Guardians, if your child is coming with you to volunteer, the expectation is that they can be independent and support the bike parking program without your need to supervise them the entire time. – we look forward to the day when even you're "wiggly little ones" can help us out too!!
