Please come lend a hand with Tree Stewards' ongoing effort to transform Alexandria's Ben Brenman Park.
On Tuesday, April 19, Tree Stewards will welcome 40-50 outside volunteers from a green business, Intus Windows, to plant 45 trees in mowed areas of the park.
Tree Stewards are needed starting in the morning to set up for the planting and then during the planting itself to:
Help set up and stage materials for the planting in the morningWelcome the outside volunteers
Ensure that all volunteers, Tree Stewards or outside participants, sign in on the city's waiver sheet
Welcome and engage with VIP guests/elected officials at the kick off
Manage the outside volunteers and coach them on correct planting, watering, staking, and mulching technique
Ensure that the correct trees get planted in the correct locations
Ensure that the day's events are photographed
Ensure all supplies, left over materials, and trash are picked up and packed out
Please note that we need your help even if you can't stay for the entire time of the planting... so Tree Steward volunteers are needed in the morning for set up and/or starting at 1:00pm for the planting.
