Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria

Please join Vincent Verweij, Urban Forest Manager with Arlington County (and certified arborist), for a Winter Tree ID walk through Barcroft Park in Arlington on Saturday, December 9, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Vincent will show us that trees can be identified in winter by looking at bark patterns, branch and twig architecture, arrangement of buds, and remnants of fruits and nuts. The walk will begin by looking at landscape trees planted near the parking lot and then move across the stream to see trees in the forested areas of the floodplain. We expect to see the County champion swamp white oak, green ash, and river birch trees along the way.

Wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Gather in the parking lot of the Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center, 4200 S. Four Mile Run Dr, Arlington, VA.
