Background:
The Street Tree Inventory is a large data collection effort to measure, map, and identify all the Street Trees in Portland.
The first phase of the project occurred from 2010-2016. In this phase of the project, considered Street Tree Inventory 1.0, UF staff trained volunteers to assist with data collection, resulting in data on nearly 220,000 street trees.
An update to the Street Tree Inventory is currently underway (Street Tree Inventory 2.0). This effort began in 2022 and is slated to be complete by 2024, with data collection conducted almost entirely by UF seasonal staff. This year, we have a team of 10 staff conducting data collection across Portland neighborhoods at a rate of about 1000 trees per day!
