WHAT: Training for this season's tree planting leads.
WHERE: Roseway Park Blocks (Corner of NE Failing and NE 72nd, Portland, OR 97213)
WHEN: Saturday, December 16th, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
If you are looking for a refresher on the technical side of tree planting plus some additional information on volunteer leadership and group management, this training is for you.
This 2-part training will involve a 1.5hr dinner lecture via Zoom on Wednesday December 13th from 6 to 7:30pm and in-person tree planting at the Roseway Park Blocks on Saturday December 16th from 9am to 1pm. In exchange for providing this free learning opportunity, we are asking that you commit to at least one of the following volunteer tree planting events coming up this winter:
Monday 1/15- Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at Lents Park
Saturday 2/10- Lunar New Year Tree Planting at Gates Park
Saturday 3/9- Planting at John Luby Park

Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry's mission is to manage and ensure Portland's urban forest infrastructure for current and future generations. Portland’s urban forest consists of 220,000 street trees, 1.2 million park trees, and innumerable private property trees. Urban Forestry is involved in managing or regulating all of these trees to differing degrees. Urban Forestry staff issue permits for planting, pruning, and removal of all public and some private trees and are on call 24/7 to respond to tree emergencies.
