DNR led work party at Walker Valley

Saturday, November 23 2024

SCOPE OF WORK UPDATED on 11/21 IN LEIU OF RECENT STORM DAMAGE

Several trees came down during recent high winds. The November 23 work party will concentrate on two activities:

1. Repair tread damage on I-5 trail due to an uprooted tree. This will be a walk-in activity with tools provided by the DNR
2. Ride the trail system, note location of any tread damage and downed trees, take photos and report back to Josh Boswell. DO NOT ride off trail to go around any downed trees. Either ride over what you can, turn around when you reach ones you cannot safely traverse.

Meet Josh Boswell, DNR Recreation Manager for Clear Lake DIstrict, at the north trailhead at 9:00, then proceed to the worksite.

To ensure your safety and comfort during the work party, please come prepared with the following:

* Rain Gear and layers underneath. Rain is in the forecast!
* Food, water, and snacks to sustain yourself throughout the day.
* Personal medications or other needs that may be specific to you.
* Personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, eye protection, earplugs, and sturdy boots.
(Josh will have extra gloves, safety glasses, and earplugs for those that don’t bring them)
* Appropriate work clothes that can get dirty and withstand the outdoor conditions.

9:00am - 3:00pm
