Plant Rescue at Black Creek Preserve
Sunday, May 28 2023
Join us to help save some beautiful native plants including bloodroot, Dutchman's breeches, Solomons plume, spicebush, dogwood, ferns and more. We only have a limited amount of time to remove the plants before they will be bulldozed over to make way for construction. This event is being conducted under permit from Scenic Hudson.
WHERE: Scenic Hudson's Black Creek Preserve, Winding Brook Rd., Esopus, NY.
ACTIVITY: We'll be digging out plants of all sizes with trowels and shovels. The work site is near parking but has thorny invasives and some poison ivy mixed in. Due to the delicate nature of the plants we prefer adults and mature youth only.
BRING: Work gloves if you have them, a long-sleeved shirt to wear to protect against thorns, bugs and poison ivy. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Bring a shovel or trowel if you have one.
For more information contact, Linda at linda@wildwoodsproject.org or 845-614-0253.
Removed plants will be packed for transport to our main growing site in Orange County, Sign up for Monday May 29 or Friday June 2 nursery workdays to be involved in potting them up.
