Ohio History Connection

Watch, as the Ohio Village come alive with the heat, smoke, and noise of the Civil War complete with battles, gun and cannon demonstrations and Union and Confederate troops. Event assistance for the House Divided Civil War Event on Friday, June 21, Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23.

Responsibilities: Roles may be adjusted accordingly due to event needs.

Check-in of Reenactors- Volunteers will sign-in incoming reenactors, make sure they sign waiver forms and give them welcome packets. Position needed for Friday afternoon and evening (2-6pm and 6-10pm).

Crowd Director- Volunteers help with setting up caution tape in preparation for the battle demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. They will then stand in strategic spots to watch over spectators and make sure visitors do not run under the tape into the battle area. (12-2pm Saturday, 1-3pm Sunday)

Event Assistant- Volunteers will assist staff in checking on costumed volunteers, directing visitors, and setting up activities.

Skills Required:
No experience necessary. Ability to read and understand basic text. Ability to give location directions.

Time Commitment:
June 21, 22 and/or 23
Various times needed. At least a 2-4 hour time commitment.

Work Environment:
Large crowds expected. May have to engage large numbers of people

Physical Demands:
Some walking for Crowd Control volunteers.

16

Training:
Brief meeting before event and instructions sent in advance.
