Band Camp Day Eight- Parent Volunteers

Week One. Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm, Friday 7:30am-9:00pm
Leadership, guard and percussion rookies meet on Monday and Tuesday for fundamentals. Any veterans are also welcome.
Full band begins Wednesday. Marching drill begins with full music and attendance is mandatory.
Volunteers are needed to monitor practice field sessions, inside band sectionals, and the band room.
Donated snacks, water, and fruit are provided to participants.

7:30am - 11:30am
AM Field Monitor/Equipment Manager
Transport water coolers from the concession stand to the field using the Gator vehicle and trailer. Transport percussion instruments as needed. Help other volunteers with their jobs including providing water and snacks, logging incidents in the medical log, and monitoring weather conditions. Need to bring own bag chair to the practice field. Meet first in the band room.

AM Field Monitor/Medic
Medical volunteer to monitor and assist students when needed. Some prior medical experience/training is needed. Document any incidents with students such as overheating, nausea, injury, etc. in the medical log. Restock first aid bag. Need to bring own bag chair to the practice field. Meet in the band room first and travel with students.

AM Field Monitor/Hydrater
Ensure students stay hydrated and monitor students on the field. Clean, ice, and fill water and Gatorade coolers, then transport them to the field (the Gator vehicle may be used). Keep water and Gatorade coolers full and iced. Assist with other jobs such as applying sunscreen, bug spray, and cooling towels, serving snacks, filling out medical log, monitoring weather, etc.. Need to bring own bag chair to the practice field. Meet first in the band room and travel with students.

Monitor weather conditions and chaperone students. Watch heat levels using the wet bulb. Watch for rain and lightning strikes using WeatherBug app. Help other volunteers with their jobs including providing water and snacks. Need to bring own bag chair to the practice field. Meet in the band room and travel with students.

Staff Lunch Setup
Pick up provided lunch for staff. Make sure room is cooled and presentable with provided food and ice drinks. Clean up after lunch concludes.

Band Room Monitor
Monitor students during lunch and sectionals. Maintain water coolers and snacks. Check with Mr. G to see if he needs any assistance.
