DETAILS::: Rocky Mount City “Clean The Streets” Project
April 1-5 2021
10:00am-2:00pm
PROJECT MISSION
For This particular project the beginning goal will be to commit 20 Hours towards picking up litter and trash along the streets of Rocky Mount (public roads). This project will be broken down into five days the first 5 days of April. 4 hours a day 20 hours total.
All committed volunteers will meet with me the day of the event at the Buck Leonard Park to check in, obtain supplies and receive instructions for safety and daily goals. Each day hours will be from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Free Lunches will be provided for all volunteers who participate each day. All supplies necessary for the project will be provided by Stephine @ the KAB and returned at the end of each day if needed.
PROJECT INSPIRATION
What inspired me to pursue a clean up event for the city of Rocky Mount, was the large amounts of trash and debris I see all over all the time. I could waste countless words expressing my thoughts and opinion but i’d rather focus on a solution. Finding a Solution to the cities liter problem has become another one of my many important ventures towards improving The City’s appearance and addressing some of the issues we actually have the power to address for now. The holistic objective however, (besides actually cleaning up the streets.) Is to encourage and inspire the youth, the locals and business owners, like myself and thousands more that we must be the change we want to see. And that we must start today. After speaking with many of the residents here in Rocky Mount in regards to the amounts of trash and litter strewn across the city’s streets. It's obvious that there are countless areas that are badly in need of attention and clean-up.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Volunteers and myself will meet at the park each morning at 10:00am. We will begin our first two hours picking up along the streets of Raleigh Rd. and the areas nearby. We will pick up trash from sidewalks, small or large fields of land. Roadside and Curbsides including (accessible) storm drains, We will not clean any occupied yards or driveways or vacant lots Out of respect and safety all volunteers and myself will stay together unless otherwise discussed. If we decide to split into groups there will be a lead assigned to each group to help with picking up as well as helping our volunteers to stay encouraged, motivated and on task. I do say I could see this as an ongoing continuous project each month, because there is definitely a need for these services here in Rocky Mount which is why I am more than eager to learn more about how I could become a part of the city’s efforts to clean the streets. And possibly build and manage a small program designed designated and focused on creating a controlled system to help eliminate The trash and litter that continues to compile our city, which as we know is just another one of Rocky Mounts many issues.
