A week of exciting trail maintenance on the ALT.
Usually, the week of WV’s birthday (June 20). Join us for our biggest event of the year, W5! Come spend the week, weekend, or however long you can! Camping is free for tents, or car camping, facilities are located on-site.
Each day starts with a safety briefing / tailgate talk at 8:30am
6:30am - 11:00am
Camp Cook AM
Assist with cooking breakfast, assembly line setup, keep an eye on camp during day - Difficulty Easy
8:00am - 10:00am
Shuttle Driver AM
Driving trail crews to work locations - Difficulty: Easy
8:00am - 6:00pm
Camp Coordinator
Assist Section Coordinators split groups, help organize cars and people arriving to camp, Manage Trash, Watch Fire, Check Ice, Charging Batteries, Weather
Difficulty Moderate
8:15am - 4:00pm
Blazing
Nailing plastic 2x6 blazes to trees to mark trail - Extracting old little square blazes, and trimming around the blazes.

Using loppers and hand trimmers to cut small branches out of the trail - Difficulty Moderate

Treadwork
Using hand tools to dig and reestablish trail when washouts occur- Difficulty Strenuous

Swamper
Assist the Sawyer as they cut out blowdowns with a chainsaw - Difficulty Moderate/Strenuous

Driving trail crews from work locations - back to camp Difficulty: Easy
