Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria

Help remove invasive plants in Grandma’s Creek, a neighborhood park that is an arm of Glencarlyn Park in South Arlington. Grandma’s Creek runs into Four Mile Run at 7th St S. We have been working in an area of the park that borders S Pershing Drive between 4th St S and 6th St S. This month, we will start at the same place, and go to an area where English ivy is spreading to remove as much as we can. From there, we will take a walking tour of Grandma’s Creek Park, going from the perimeter into the forested ravine with mature canopy trees. We will see some of the original creek bed, and where the creek runs into Four Mile Run. Meet near the gate on the adjacent Dominion Energy lot along S Pershing Drive. Dress to protect against poison ivy and ticks. There are some steep areas, so sturdy shoes are recommended. We will have tools and gloves provided by Arlington County DPR, but please bring your favorites if you have them. If you have any questions, call or text me at 703 973-7424.
