NEW POLICY - STUDENTS MUST BE 14 YEARS OF AGE!

Four students, each accompanied by a parent, are needed to serve dinner at The New Covenant Soup Kitchen in Stamford. Parent and student need to arrive at 4:15 pm to set up.  Dinner service is from 4:30 - 5:30 pm.

The Soup Kitchen only serves water so it has become our tradition that we bring apple juice to serve as well.  So, if you would be willing, I ask that each family to supply 2 bottles of apple juice.  Just bring the bottles with you to the soup kitchen and let them know you have them to serve.

Additionally, you are welcome to bring desert (i.e. cookies, etc) to the soup kitchen.

Everyone MUST wear closed shoes (no flip flops or clogs) We also ask you to remind your girls to dress modestly; no spaghetti strap tops and no short shorts or skirts as you are representing St. Aloysius.  When you arrive you will need to wear a hair net, apron and gloves (supplied by NCH) and wash your hands.  You must put the hair net on before you wash your hands.

The soup kitchen is located at 174 Richmond Hill Avenue in Stamford. (Enter from Fairfield Avenue) They moved to this location in June 2015.

It is on the corner of Richmond Hill and Fairfield Ave

The new location is a 2 story tan brick building

Please enter the parking lot from Fairfield Avenue (this is at the back of the building)

The entrance is down a few steps, in a corner by the loading dock.  There is a sign on the door that reads "NCH Donation Drop Off and Volunteer Entrance".  The door is usually locked. If it is locked, please buzz in to the building.

Maria, is in charge of the kitchen.  She will tell you exactly what to do. Please follow her instructions to the letter.  There are many rules regarding if people can have seconds or sheets of foil (to take the food to go) etc.

This service will fulfill one hour of a Corporal Work of Mercy for Confirmation service and is a beautiful way to bring the love of Christ to our neighbors.

To commit to this service, please sign up below. Space is limited due to the size of the kitchen.

If you need to cancel at the last minute please find a sub or if you cannot find a sub, please contact Chris Otis at youth@starcc.com.  St. Aloysius has committed to staff the evening meal on these dates and they truly count on us.
