Greeter at 5:00 PM Teen Mass (Parish Service)
Sunday, March 15 2020
Students are needed to help both before and after the 5:00 pm Sunday teen Mass. To log this 30 minutes of parish service the student must help both before the Mass AND at the conclusion of Mass. Students should staff each doorway, and 2 should staff the main entrance. This service is available to 6 students at each Mass. Here is what the student is to do to earn the service:
The student is to arrive dressed appropriately for Mass by 4:50 pm. This means that the student should NOT wear athletic gear, flip flops, tank tops, short skirts or "short" shorts or other inappropriate or immodest clothing. For the boys we ask that they wear a collard shirt, like a Polo shirt or nicer.
Upon arrival to Church, the student should select an unmanned door and hands out song sheets (which they will find on the tables at the doorways of the church). The student should smile and say "Welcome to St. Aloysius". At the conclusion of the Introductory Rite (when the priest says Let us pray and then everyone sits down for the First Reading) the student should find a seat and participate in the Sunday Mass.
After Communion, the student should return to the doorway of the church and hand out bulletins (which will be found in the racks of the church) to all adults as they exit and wish them a good week, thanks for coming to mass or some other friendly goodbye.
After most people have left the church, we need students to make a sweep of the church to pick up song sheets and any trash that has been left behind in the pews and deposit it in the trash cans in the quiet room. Any articles that have been left behind can be put in the lost and found in the quiet room. There is a basket there. If anything of value is found - ie wallet, phone, car keys, etc. those items should be given to a priest/deacon. Parents are welcome to help their child get the job done!
Students, please remember that you are representing your church when you stand at the doorway in this capacity. Please look and act appropriately.
Youth Minister, Mrs. Chris Otis, is usually present during the 5:00 pm Teen Mass to answer questions if any should arise. If you cannot find her there should be a High School student that is designated as the Mass Captain.
Each child should not take more than 2 weeks so that others may also have the opportunity to participate.
Students may take 1 hour of Parish Service.
