Read & Reflect: Why turn the other cheek? To defeat hatred and evil, Pope Francis says
Monday, January 02 2023
On the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we hear from the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 6 about loving our enemies. Pope Francis shared an important message with the world on February 20, as he spoke about loving our enemies and turning the other cheek.
Find a Bible in your home, or go to https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/022022.cfm and read the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 6, verses 27-38. Then read Pope Francis' short message.
Write a SHORT 1-2 PARAGRAPH REFLECTION about how YOU can take action and follow Pope Francis' request of the world. Email your reflection to youth@starcc.com. REMEMBER, TO EARN YOUR 30 MINUTES, YOUR REFLECTION MUST BE MORE THAN 1-2 LINES -- TAKE SOME TIME IN PRAYER AND REFLECT ABOUT WHAT GOD MAY BE CALLING YOU TO DO AND SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS IN 1-2 PARAGRAPHS.
Finally, PRAY for one of your enemies and ask God to help you love that person.
You may claim 30 minutes of other or diocesan service.
