Pope Francis Act of Consecration of Ukraine & Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Friday, March 25 2022

His Holiness Pope Francis formally announced his intention to carry out a solemn Act of Consecration of humanity, for Russia and Ukraine in particular, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Act of Consecration will take place within the context of a Celebration of Penance to be held in Saint Peter’s Basilica. The Holy Father has explained the rationale behind the consecration in a letter sent to the bishops of the world: “This Act of Consecration is meant to be a gesture of the universal Church, which in this dramatic moment lifts up to God, through his Mother and ours, the cry of pain of all those who suffer and implore an end to the violence, and to entrust the future of our human family to the Queen of Peace”. He has asked each bishop to join in this Act of Consecration, and to invite “the priests, religious and faithful to assemble in their churches and places of prayer on 25 March, so that God’s Holy People may raise a heartfelt and choral plea to Mary our Mother”.

Here at Saint Aloysius, this Act of Consecration will be offered at all the Masses on Friday, March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation. Masses will be offered at 7:00 AM, 8:15 AM (with our school children), and 5:30 PM. Please make every effort to attend one of these Masses so that a great number of us can ask the Lord, through the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of His Mother, to bring a true and lasting peace to the world.

You must attend with a parent. You will earn 30 minutes of a spiritual work of mercy.
