WHAT: Montavilla Heritage Tree Tour

WHERE: Berrydale Park parking area on SE 89th Ave

WHEN: Saturday, November 23rd from 10:00AM – 12:00PM.

The Heritage Tree Program will present a Heritage Tree tour in the Montavilla Neighborhood. The tour includes visiting four Heritage Trees and a tree nominated for consideration this year. The tour will cover important aspects of the Heritage Trees in the neighborhood, how to find future Heritage Trees, and how to nominate them. The tour includes visiting trees that are far apart and may require driving or biking during the event. A 6-person van is available for those who need assistance and can fit up to 5 passengers only. We encourage others to carpool or travel together. Please register and indicate if you need transportation assistance.

Late November weather may be rainy or cold, please dress appropriately.

The Heritage Tree tour will cover:
1. HT #393 copper beech (ROW) @ Clark Elementary School entrance on SE 89th Ave
2. HT #394 western redcedar (private, backyard) @ 34 SE 88th Ave
3. HT #373 European beech (ROW) @ 810 SE 86th Ave
4. HT #301 coast redwood (private, front yard) @ 7617 SE Main St
5. Coulter’s pine (HT nominee, Park) @ Berrydale Park

Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry's mission is to manage and ensure Portland's urban forest infrastructure for current and future generations. Portland’s urban forest consists of 220,000 street trees, 1.2 million park trees, and innumerable private property trees. Urban Forestry is involved in managing or regulating all of these trees to differing degrees. Urban Forestry staff issue permits for planting, pruning, and removal of all public and some private trees and are on call 24/7 to respond to tree emergencies.
