Merrifield Park Tree Planting
Saturday, December 07 2024
WHAT: Holiday Tree Planting.
WHERE: Merrifield Park (NE 117th Avenue and Thompson Street
Portland, OR 97220)
WHEN: Saturday, December 7th, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Join us as we celebrate trees and the holiday season at Merrifield Park. If you are looking for an in-depth training on the technical side of tree planting, then this event is for you. This planting will have fewer volunteers so participants can have a more hands-on experience and leave feeling confident enough to plant their own trees. In addition to planting trees, we will also have some great holiday themed snacks to celebrate our work.
Before attending any event: if you are not feeling well, have a temperature above 100.4ᵒ or receive a recommendation to self-isolate – please stay home.
Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry's mission is to manage and ensure Portland's urban forest infrastructure for current and future generations. Portland’s urban forest consists of 220,000 street trees, 1.2 million park trees, and innumerable private property trees. Urban Forestry is involved in managing or regulating all of these trees to differing degrees. Urban Forestry staff issue permits for planting, pruning, and removal of all public and some private trees and are on call 24/7 to respond to tree emergencies.
