Silver Hill Hospital AFSP Walk

New Canaan’s very own Silver Hill Hospital (SHH) is one of the sponsors for the annual American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) “Out of the Darkness” Fairfield County Walk. The “Out of the Darkness” Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
This is an opportunity for SLOBs and their families to volunteer on event day itself with setup, breakdown, assist with information and refreshment tables, direct and cheer walkers, and join the SHH walk team. There are 3 shifts to sign up for, bring a friend or family member, the more the merrier.
Let’s help break down the stigma of mental health, lets show our support and spread positive messages by those affected by suicide.

Location: Sherwood Island State Park, 1 Sherwood Island Road, Westport, CT
Shift #1: 8:00am-10:00am - Setup
Shift #2: 10:00am-12:00noon - Cheer Walkers, or join SHH Walk Team
Shift #3: 12:00noon-2:00pm - Breakdown

*Earn 2hr credit for taking a shift
