DNR led work party at Walker Valley - January 25, 2025
Saturday, January 25 2025
Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the north trailhead on Peter Burns Road. After signing-in and brief crew meeting, drive less than 1 mile to work site. This is a walk-in work party, no motorcycles required.
What’s the Goal?
We’ll work to harden and stabilize a heavily used downhill corner that leads to a bridge. This spot has become challenging for ATVs and raises concerns about water quality. To address these issues, we’ll bring in gravel and cement blocks to improve the trail’s durability and ensure it remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.
A piece of machinery will be on-site to help load gravel into walk-behind haulers, so we’ll be set to tackle this project efficiently.
What to Bring:
Please come prepared for outdoor, hands-on work. Here’s a quick checklist:
Clothing: Warm layers and sturdy boots. Be ready for the cold weather.
Food and Water: Pack snacks and lunch to keep you energized.
PPE: Gloves, sturdy boots, eye protection, and earplugs.
(Josh will have extra gloves, safety glasses, and earplugs if needed.)
Tools: Bring your favorite digging tools (shovel, pick, hoe, etc.).
Personal Needs: Medications or any specific items you might require.
Note: This work involves physical effort on rough terrain. Please ensure you’re comfortable and physically able to participate.
