We encourage you to bring your own hand tools for brush/slash clearing. WOHVA will supply premix 2-stroke fuel for volunteers.
The locked DNR gate we will use for entry to the work site is west of the Haven Lake Way and Belfair Tahuya Rd intersection off of the Belfair Tahuya Rd. The trail we are working on goes between Haven Lake Way and the Belfair Tahuya Rd as suggested by Ray Minish (Tahuya DNR). It is a very short drive from the TMC Tahuya property. After breakfast at the TMC property, the volunteers can car pool to the work site following the WOHVA volunteer equipment trailer at 0800. I will have written directions to leave there at the TMC building so any late arrivals can follow them to the work site.
We can use many volunteers, in 4 - 8 person separate crews, as there are many different access points along that good logging road (passable with the family vehicle) where separate crews can easily enter the trail. Dave & Joshua will be there to direct crews to those entry locations. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools and PPE for clearing brush and considerable amounts of timber slash debris, including downed logs. and lots of tree limbs on the ground.
There is no use or place for ATVs or Side by Sides as the trail route is only being cleared a maximum of 24 inches wide with NO dirt work at this time. Heavy equipment cannot be used to bench this trail until the DNR reviews the entire "foot path" we are clearing to insure that it complies with all their restrictions and their required analysis and documentation of same is completed.
