Friends of Freedom Park and Coulee River Trails

We're cleaning up the gardens to get ready for summer! Some of the things we'll need to do:

All garden areas around the property:
• Remove all stalks at their bases near the ground. Use a hand hedge trimmer and/or lopping shears.
• Dig out turf grass
• Clear grass and dirt away from steel edging

Rain garden:
• Remove stalks
• Rake leaves
• Prune dogwood

Other general considerations:
• Wear sturdy shoes and long socks
• Spray legs with tick repellent
• Leave the dead leaves in the garden (with the exception of the rain garden). It doesn't look as pretty but it's great for the soil and for the insects.
• Put all organic waste in a pile at the northwest corner of the parking lot (marked with orange construction cones and orange tape)

Please bring gloves and your own garden tools. If you have not completed a volunteer liability release form, please see the attached form and complete it before you begin work.
