Desert Soul Media, Inc.'s (DSM) Board of Directors authorized the creation of a standing volunteer committee called the Volunteer Engagement Committee. The DSM Bylaws state that The Volunteer Engagement Committee shall serve as DSM’s vehicle for connecting volunteers with one another, and for connecting volunteers to the Board of Directors.

The Volunteer Engagement Committee’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:
a. Assist the Board of Directors with overseeing our volunteer management system, including lead generation, contact follow-up, and maintenance of contact information;
b. Conduct regular volunteer orientation sessions to welcome potential DSM volunteers and get them plugged in to our various programs;
c. Solicit feedback from DSM volunteers on projects or programs they would like to work on and communicate that information to the Board of Directors;
d. Coordinate volunteer engagement activities, such as road trips to visit sister community radio or television stations, nights out at local restaurants, or volunteer appreciation events;
e. Work with volunteers to accurately capture their donated time and projects worked on so that the Board has an accurate accounting of human and other resources being donated to DSM;
f. Complete volunteer evaluations and maintain archives of said evaluations; and
g. Any other responsibilities as the Board of Directors may determine are necessary.
