Louisiana Families for Vaccines

Saturday, May 31 2025

Hosted by ACOEP and ACONP

The address is: 3313 Bernstein Park Dr, Monroe, LA 71202

This is a super unique TOUCH opportunity for people wanting to use the things they learned in med school to impact the community! This is a partnership with Louisiana Families for Vaccines to help engage community members and educate on vaccine hesitancy. Volunteers will be required to potentially interact with vaccine-hesitant community members empathically and offer them education/resources on why vaccines are safe through the use of positive, affirming language. For other community members, you will encourage them to sign-up and receive updates about vaccine events in the community. T-shirts will be provided for volunteers! There is no dress code.

This opportunity to volunteer with LFV will occur a few more times, so if you are interested in a recurring volunteer advocacy project through ACOEP, make sure you sign up for the others as well! They will be on TiF! This is also a good opportunity for networking with other community partners as well if you are looking to carry out a project or get in contact with a specific organization!

This effort not only helps in preventing widespread health crises but also reduces the strain on healthcare systems. For medical students, focusing on this issue equips them with the knowledge and communication skills needed to foster public health initiatives and advocate for evidence-based health practices, thereby contributing to the overall well-being and safety of the community. Understanding and addressing vaccine hesitancy is vital as it prepares them to effectively communicate with patients, build trust, and address concerns, which are essential skills in promoting public health and preventing disease spread.
