VCOM Louisiana

Join the VCOM-Louisiana Volunteer Committee in helping the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center with their Live Well Delta 2023 event! This event will be held Saturday, April 29th, 2023, from 8:30am-1pm. Live Well Delta is a free community event to screen for breast, prostate, colorectal, and skin cancer. With this in mind, we are aiming to meet the needs of rural and medically underserved populations and promoting the improvement of community health, in accordance with the VCOM mission statement.

We plan to have VCOM volunteers help at each of the screening locations, where we will be helping direct community members during prostate, skin, and breast screening and check-in. At the colorectal screening area, we will assist in explaining the take-home kit to participating community members (which will first be explained to VCOM students from fellow volunteers). At the registration/welcome table, we will pass out educational materials on screening and help register participants for screening.

The Live Well Delta 2023 event will be held at the Monroe Civic Center (401 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway Monroe, LA 71201). We ask that VCOM volunteers wear a VCOM polo and dress comfortably and appropriately.
