Vaccine Awareness Project with Office of Public Health
Monday, July 31 2023
Volunteer with the Office of Public Health in their upcoming awareness project. Our childhood vaccination rates have been declining since 2020. To combat this trend, we are embarking on “Operation Immunization” during the month of August which is National Immunization Awareness Month. We want to raise awareness, improve our statistics, and ensure the well-being of our community through vaccination.
We plan to increase awareness by placing 22,000 small flags throughout the community to encourage immunizations throughout Region 8. We will be placing the flags and a limited number of yard signs and posters in prominent locations along roadways all over the Monroe/West Monroe Community.
We will be meeting at the Parish Health Unit (Address: 1650 Desiard St., Monroe, LA 71201) at 5pm to organize and sort the flags and posters. Following this, we will split into groups of 10 and will head out to locations such as VCOM, ULM campus, Civic center, etc. to distribute the flags around Monroe.
