GSU COL Pro Bono Program

The upcoming monthly Afghan Asylum Clinic scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 9:00 am to 3:10 pm at the International Rescue Committee Office located at 2305 Parklake Drive NE, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30345.

This clinic is being held in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Catholic Charities of Atlanta (CCA) in order to serve the hundreds of IRC Afghan parolees in need of assistance in filing their asylum applications. Please note that these clinic participants have been pre-screened by IRC, and clinic participation is by appointment only.

During the clinic, volunteers will be paired with a clinic participant to work on a draft of the participant's affidavit in support of their asylum application. The clinic participant may have family members attend with them, but volunteers are only assisting the primary asylum applicant with their affidavit.

Once volunteers are confirmed and assigned to a case, they will receive confirmation emails containing the clinic participant's information, training materials and templates, as well as a short orientation video to view prior to the clinic. These resources will prepare volunteers for the clinic and GAIN attorneys will be available to answer any questions that may arise. Lunch will be provided.
