Paws Between Homes Intake and Follow-Up Project (1/30/23–2/3/23)
Saturday, February 04 2023
Paws Between Homes (PBH) is a licensed Georgia animal rescue that provides temporary foster homes to the pets of people who are facing eviction or other housing loss. When PBH receives a request for help, volunteers conduct an intake interview with the pet owner, and we begin the search for a foster home that will be the right fit for that pet. After a maximum of 90 days of fostering, the pet is reunited with its owner.
Student volunteers will have the opportunity to interview and follow up with potential clients to assess needs and identify legal issues, consider the legal status of eviction or appropriate treatments of a service/assistance animal, and "matchmake" by reviewing the list of potential pets needing placement and reaching out to the potential foster homes that might be a good fit. This project is a great way for students to hone their research, writing, interviewing, and intake skills. Training will include a one-hour video with instructions regarding the proper use of the intake system, Georgia eviction laws, and emotional support animals.
Students should expect to commit about an hour of work during their assigned week. Project work will be done virtually.
