Amica Center for Immigration Rights: Translation Bank
Project Description:
The Amica Center for Immigration Rights, formerly the CAIR Coalition, strives to ensure equal justice for all immigrant adults and children at risk of detention and deportation across the country, including in Georgia. The Amica Center provides direct legal representation, know your rights presentations, impact litigation, advocacy, and the enlistment and training of attorneys to defend immigrants.
Amica Center volunteer translators help ensure all immigrant individuals, regardless of the language they speak, can meaningfully participate in their cases. Translation opportunities involve translation of court documents such as birth certificates, declarations, letters of support, and news articles. No certification is required to be a volunteer translator or interpreter; however, strong proficiency is preferred.
This project will operate as a translator bank for the Amica Center to reach out to volunteers as needed. Volunteer opportunities are shared via email on a weekly basis, and opportunities are flexible – the volunteer can choose their own time commitment on a weekly basis.
