Dear GAIN Supporter,

We write to inform you of the next Afghan Temporary Protected Status (TPS) legal clinic. The next TPS clinic is scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The location of this clinic will be announced soon, but it will not be far from the Stone Mountain/Clarkston area. Please find the clinic flyer attached below.

This clinic is being held in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in order to serve the hundreds of IRC Afghan parolees who need assistance applying for TPS to extend their stay in the United States. TPS is a temporary benefit that provides protection against deportation, allowing Afghan nationals to safely remain in the United States while working towards securing long-term immigration status. Please note that these clinic participants have been pre-screened by the IRC, and clinic participation is by appointment only.

During the clinic, volunteers will be assigned at a station to facilitate the TPS application process. Some volunteers will be given the role of completing application components, while others will review applications before submission. More details on volunteer roles and responsibilities are forthcoming.

Volunteers will receive confirmation emails containing their assignment, training materials, a sample TPS application, as well as a short orientation video to view prior to the clinic. These resources will prepare volunteers for participating in the clinic. GAIN attorneys will also be available to answer any questions that may arise. Lunch will be provided.
