Crossroads at Big Creek

In 2004, Governor James Doyle designated the first weekend in March as “Aldo Leopold Weekend” and at the suggestion of Nancy Rafal, in 2007 we at Crossroads, in collaboration with other Door County environmental organizations, brought Aldo Leopold Weekend to Door County.

Every year since then, Crossroads, in various ways, has celebrated on the first Saturday in March—often in collaboration with others. This year, Crossroads is joining with the Door County Master Gardeners Association and Wild Ones-Door Peninsula to sponsor a Aldo Leopold Sunset Hike for the community on Saturday, March 1 at 4:30 PM. At selected points along the trail, the group will pause and a volunteer from one of the organizations will read a short passage. We are looking for 4 to 6 volunteers from Crossroads to be readers. We will provide readers with their passages prior to the hike. In case of inclement weather, we will celebrate Aldo Leopold Day around the fireplace in the Collins Learning Center.
