TEO Black History Month Book Drive
Saturday, February 10 2024
Purpose and Goal: Provide books to our TEO community library that reflect our advocacy for social justice, voter education, and voter mobilization, as well as our dedication to uplifting our local community. The goal is for the youth to have access to this wealth of information about how they can become active in their own communities and be advocates for social justice.
Plan: Sorors and community members are asked to donate books that are geared toward elementary age through young adults. The themes of the books will support the purpose that is stated above. The themes below are suggested but not limited to the following:
Books by social justice activists that speak to the cause
Books/guides about social justice activism
Books about anti-racism
Biographies or autobiographies about civil rights activists and icons
Biographies or autobiographies about social justice advocates and activists
Historical books reflecting the voting rights movement and the impact of voter education and voter mobilization
Social justice books that explore voting rights in the current social climate
Social justice titles that have been adapted for young readers
Guides on how young people can make a difference in their communities through activism
This book drive is open to Sorors, community members, and community stakeholders.
There are 2 opportunities for TEO Sorors to donate: February 10, 2024 Chapter Meeting or February 27, 2024 (see details below).
Sorors are asked to drop their donations at our February Chapter Meeting or on February 27.
TEO Sorors are eligible to receive a maximum of 3 service hours for 3 books donated.
We will post the donation details to log service hours for February 27, 2024 at a later date.
