St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room

Saturday, October 05 2024

St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda [SVDP] is the largest Emergency shelter in Alameda County. Working alongside staff, volunteers in the free dining room are dedicated to providing warm meals and supplementary programs for unhoused/housing insecure, food insecure, and impoverished neighbors in Oakland. SVDP serves 600+ takeaway meals a day, made from fresh ingredients reclaimed from local grocery stores.

Volunteers at SVDP must be 14 years of age and have a completed waiver signed by a parent/guardian (provided a week ahead). Transportation will leave from Athenian at 7:30am with pick up available at Lafayette and Rockridge BART stations. Return to Athenian is anticipated by 2:00pm. All volunteers must abide by SVDP expectations including dress code (nonslip closed-toe shoes, ankle length pants, midriff covering shirts with short or long sleeves). Please do not bring non-essential personal items, as there is not storage space available.

This is a 10th Grade Service Activity. You are expected to attend pre-service and post-service sessions during Wednesday Community Service on October 2 & 9. You will need to turn in a provided SVDP waiver on October 2.
