John's passion for volunteering revolves around his old high school's FIRST robotics team, where he continues to work as a mentor to help students build and program a new robot each year.  Building a robot each year takes dozens of mentors, teachers, and other volunteers working together to support the students as they prepare for and compete in the yearly competition.  He is proud to be part of a team that works hard together to create memorable experiences for the volunteers, students, and their families.

He enjoys keeping track of silly data and statistics.  Every song he listens to is recorded to a website that organizes his listening habits.  Every book he reads is added to another site, ranked, and reviewed.  Every step he takes is counted by a device on his wrist.  This data makes it fun to set goals and makes it easy to stay accountable.
