Med-X Tulsa
Friday, February 10 2023
Please refrain from signing up if you have already fulfilled the event requirement for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Med-X is one of our largest events on campus for prospective students. Please wear black scrub pants and your Med-X t-shirt that we will provide. For the event, pre-med students will come to campus at 11am for lunch and a keynote speaker. Then, they will break up into two groups and go to different stations following a simulated standardized patient. Please arrive a few minutes early to your station. Each station description are as follows:
Lunch: You will be eating, talking, and hanging out with the pre-meds while they eat lunch. You'll answer any questions they might have and tell them about our school, etc.
Splints: In this station, students will learn about taking an HPI, collecting vitals, and then practice splinting with any materials that you might have in a rural clinic. Ambassadors will be there to assist students during the presentation. This station is open to 1st and 2nd years.
Intubations: Here, our standardized patient will be needing surgery, and we will be teaching them how to intubate. Ambassadors will be helping students with intubations. This station is for 2nd years only.
Suturing: Here, our patient will be sutured up following surgery. Ambassadors will assist students with suturing. This station is for 2nd years only.
OMM: Our patient will be receiving some follow up OMT. Ambassadors will assist students with screening and diagnosing basic somatic dysfunctions. This station is open to 1st and 2nd years and will take place in the OMM lab.
